Tools
The scores and audio renderings found on this site have been prepared with the following software and hardware tools:
Finale 2000 for music typesetting and MIDI playback
Sound Forge XP for audio editing
Adobe Acrobat for preparation of scores in PDF format
SoundBlaster Live! sound card for MIDI synthesis
Vienna SoundFont Studio for sound font editing
My computer system is home-built, with a SuperMicro P3TDLE motherboard and two
1-GHz Intel Pentium III processors (again, for some reason, I have to tell you
that all trademarks belong to the people who own them. I hardly imagine that
that comes as a surprise to you, but there it is), 512 Mb of RAM and a total
of 84 Gb of disk. An ATI Radeon 7000 video card drives a KDS vs-21e 21"
monitor at 1920x1440 resolution. The printed scores that I [will ultimately]
offer for sale on this site are printed on a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 5000 at
1200x1200 dpi resolution. My total investment in this system is approximately
$3900, and the task might have been accomplished even at somewhat lesser cost.
